SUV Flips Over On Eisenhower, Causes Major Traffic Backup
UPDATED 12/16/11 7:49 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A sport-utility vehicle flipped over on the outbound Eisenhower Expressway early Friday, prompting authorities to shut down lanes and causing a traffic jam.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, the SUV rolled over near Western Avenue and flipped onto its roof.
The vehicle was severely damaged, but the driver was able to get out on his own and was evaluated by paramedics at the scene. It was not immediately learned whether he was taken to a hospital.
Two left lanes were blocked on the Eisenhower following the accident, and traffic was solidly blocked from Western Avenue to Ogden Avenue as of around 6:45 a.m.
Earlier Friday morning, several cars collided in the inbound Eisenhower just before crossing the S-curve at Kostner Avenue.
Nobody was reported injured in the accident, but inbound traffic was tied up between Austin Boulevard and Kostner Avenue as of 6:15 a.m.
