SUV Carrying Mom, 2 Kids Crashes Into Arlington Heights Home
(CBS) -- A mom and two children in an SUV crashed through the front of a home Tuesday afternoon in Arlington Heights.
It turns out another driver hit the victim's car just before the front wall came crumbling down.
CBS 2's Pamela Jones reports the crash happened at around 4:19 p.m. The mom driving a Mitsubishi Outlander told police a silver minivan slammed into the back of her SUV and the next thing she knew they'd smashed through a front wall at the corner of Belmont and Central.
"I am driving up the street and I see a car flying across jumping the curb on top of this gentelman's house," said Sal Lara Jr., a witness.
And the next thing she knew they'd smashed through a front wall at the corner of Belmont and Central.
"I was panic stricken. I thought either she had a heart attack or something happened," Lara said.
What happened to cause this crash is still a mystery to police. They know another vehicle hit the car, but investigators don't think the first impact pushed the SUV out of control. The mom and her children just grateful someone was there to help.
No one was inside the home at the time of the crash.
