'Suspicious' Package In Rogers Park Deemed Harmless
CHICAGO (STMW) - A "suspicious" package that closed a West Rogers Park intersection Friday night has been found to be harmless, police said.
Police responded to Touhy and Western avenues at 4:34 p.m. on a report of a "suspicious" package at the intersection, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.
Crews from the Chicago Police Bomb and Arson investigated the package and later found it to be an inert object that posed no threat, Zala said.
Traffic was initially rerouted as police closed the area to investigate, but should reopen shortly, Zala said about 8 p.m. CTA buses on the #49B North Western route were temporarily diverted in the area, causing minor delays, according to the transit agency's website.
