Suspects In Albany Park Robbery Arrested After Shootout With Cops
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police exchanged gunfire with a robbery suspect this morning on the Northwest Side and an officer was bitten by a police dog.
Albany Park Robbery Suspects In Custody
It was a canine officer, according to the police union, bitten by a police dog while officers were going after three suspects involved in the shooting and armed robbery of a woman on the 4500 block of North Christiana in the Albany Park neighborhood. The incident happened at about 4 a.m. Saturday.
Police put out a description of the vehicle involved and it was spotted several weeks away. Two were arrested according to FOP spokesman Pat Camden. The third, armed with a handgun, ran off and was cornered in a backyard.
"Police are telling him drop the gun, drop the gun. He raises the gun. At that point, he got shot in the arm. He is taken into custody. Unfortunately, at that point in time, one of the female canine officers gets bit by the canine," said Camden.
Camden says the robbery victim who was shot will be ok, as will the officer who was bitten and the robbery suspect shot in the arm.
