Suspect In Custody For Orange Line Robbery
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A suspect in last week's brazen robbery on an Orange Line train was in custody Friday in northwest Indiana.
A Chicago Police Department spokesperson confirmed a suspect was in custody for the July 15 robbery on board a car on the CTA Orange Line during the afternoon rush.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office in Crown Point, Indiana, confirmed Chicago detectives were at their station on Friday, questioning a suspect in custody.
No charges had been filed as of 2:30 p.m.
On July 16, two men boarded an Orange Line train around 4:15 p.m. at the Halsted stop, and announced a robbery after the train pulled out of the station. At least one of the men pulled out a gun and robbed several passengers, before getting off at the Roosevelt stop.
Police have said the robbers got away with about $100 in cash, an iPhone, an iPad, two laptop computers, and some credit cards. One woman was pistol-whipped when she refused to hand over her purse, but no one was shot.
Authorities have released several surveillance camera images of the suspects.
