Suspect Charged In Avondale Shooting That Injured 2 Young Girls
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 22-year-old reputed gang member has been charged with the shooting of two young girls Wednesday night in the Avondale neighborhood.
Antonio Bucio, of the 6200 block of South Tripp Avenue, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of unlawful use of a weapon in connection with a shooting that wounded the children at Avondale Park in the 3500 block of West School Street, police said. One of the victims, aged two, was grazed in the head, and the other, who is seven, was shot in the back. Both were expected to recover.
Police say Bucio exited a van Wednesday night near Avondale Park and opened fire at individuals playing basketball before fleeing. Authorities credited locals with generating a vehicle description, which led to the seizure of the van and a weapon.

Accomplices may still be at large. Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said Bucio's entire gang, which he identified as the Maniac Latin Disciples, will pay the price for this week's shooting.
"It's really that simple. This group has gone to the top of the pile, and we're going to ensure that they understand that there are repercussions for their actions," he said during a news conference.
