Suspect Arrested In Beauty Salon Burglary Spree
(CBS) – A Highland Park man has been arrested in connection with a string of beauty salon burglaries, and police are now looking for his accomplice.
Alan Konwinski, 26, was arrested in Northbrook Monday. As CBS 2's Mai Martinez reports, he's allegedly one of the thieves responsible for more than 80 salon break-ins.
Investigators who questioned Konwinski about the burglaries felt sure they had one of the thieves.
"He implicated himself and doing numerous burglaries in our town as well as other surrounding areas," Northbrook Police Det. Sgt. Mark Graf says.
Professional Hair Designers is just one of the salons hit by the thieves. It was actually burglarized twice. News of an arrest was welcomed by its owners Friday.
"They just went straight for the cash," owner Mario Lamarca says.
Northbrook police say they caught Konwinski, thanks to a tip from someone who recognized him from surveillance images released Monday. According to police, he was driving the car they believe was used in some of the crimes.
Now, police are focusing on catching his partner in crime.
More than 30 additional police departments are looking at Konwinski as a suspect in burglaries in the northern suburbs and Chicago.
