Surveillance Video Released Of NW Side Hit-And Run
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago police are investigating two hit and run crashes in two separate locations on the Northwest Side.
They happened within 90 minutes last night. One of them left a 17-year-old girl in critical condition.
In the other, a surveillance camera was rolling when a car slammed into a pedestrian.
CBS 2's Pamela Jones reports the video is hard to watch. It was just after 6 p.m. when a man in his 30s trying to cross the street. A red Grand Prix hit the man and sent his body flying before speeding away.
In the other case at about 7:30 police say a 17-year-old was trying to walk across the street at North Lawndale and Fullerton. That's when police say a black pickup truck hit her and sped away.
Investigators say the truck should have front end damage. In the case captured on video, police say the driver of the red car turned himself in hours after the crash. He now faces charges.
Police are still looking for the driver of the black pickup in the Logan Square case.
People in the area tell CBS 2 they'd like to see more traffic enforcement because these crashes are happening too often.
