Supt. McCarthy Urges New Year's Eve Party-Goers To Stay Safe
CHICAGO (CBS) -- As you finalize New Year's Eve plans, Chicago's top cop reminds you to figure out how you'll get home, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.
Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy says before you even step out for the night, book a ride with a friend, cabbie or public transit.

"There is no need to wait to make those plans and procrastinating usually leads to bad decisions," said McCarthy.
He says there will be plenty of police offices out, both in uniform and undercover.
"The entire exempt staff, commanders and above, will be working and it is one of those nights that is busy and hopefully it is going to be a safe one," said McCarthy.
McCarthy says officers will be focused on drunk driving, partiers shooting into the air and other illegal activity and added that cold weather does not deter people from committing crime.
