Super Bowl Sunday DUI Operation Called Success In Kane County
ST. CHARLES, Ill. (CBS) -- This year's so "No Refusal" program on Super Bowl Sunday is being called a success in Kane County.
As WBBM Newsradio's John Waelti reports, the operation involves stepped-up DUI patrols in 11 Kane County cities on Super Bowl Sunday – a day when DUI fatalities typically rise.
Suspected drunken drivers who refuse to submit to a breathalyzer test are given expedited search warrants to put pressure on them to comply.
This year's operation resulted in five arrests for DUI – all first-time offenders.
Another "No Refusal" operation is planned for St. Patrick's Day weekend.
