Sunny skies Monday in Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) — Clouds are slowly increasing across northern Illinois as a disturbance approaches from the west.
Following a wonderful stretch of sunshine on Sunday and Monday, the Fourth of July week will feature warmer, more humid weather with periods of rain and thunderstorms.
The first chance of rain comes early Tuesday as a decaying complex of storms clips areas northwest of Chicago. A few more showers and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Severe weather is not currently expected.
While the Fourth of July holiday will not be an all-day washout, a few periods of showers and thunderstorms are likely at times.
In the tropics, Atlantic hurricane season starts with a bang as major hurricane Beryl chugs through the Caribbean Sea. The storm made landfall in the Windward Islands early Monday as a powerful Category 4 hurricane and is expected to move toward Jamaica and eventually Cancun later in the week.
