Sunny skies before storms return Friday in Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) — Quiet weather is expected through tonight Thursday with lows in the low 60s.
Those heading out of town on the roadways for the holiday weekend Friday may want to leave before lunchtime.
A storm system will move into the region on Friday, bringing the chance for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.
One or two waves of strong to severe storms are expected. Some storms may become severe with damaging winds and hail as the main threats. An isolated tornado can't be ruled out.
Outdoor plans look great on Saturday with cool sunshine and a light breeze, but another weather alert is in effect for widespread rain and a severe weather threat on Sunday.
Cooler than normal weather blows in for much next week as rain chances slowly fade.
Tonight: Mostly clear. Low around 60.
Friday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon and evening. Some storms may be severe. High 83.
