Sun-Times Reporters Win Pulitzer Prize
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago Sun-Times journalists Frank Main, Mark Konkol and John J. Kim have won the Pulitzer Prize for local reporting.
The Pulitzer judges recognized the trio for "their immersive documentation of violence in Chicago neighborhoods, probing the lives of victims, criminals and detectives as a widespread code of silence impedes solutions."

It has been more than 20 years since the paper won the most-coveted award in American journalism. Editorial cartoonist Jack Higgins last won the prize for the paper in 1989.
Other Sun-Times journalists with Pulitzers include film critic Roger Ebert and photographer John White.
The much-needed good news comes at a time when the paper has been struggling to stay alive, as it has continued to slash its workforce to keep operating.
A Pulitzer Prize is also going to former Chicagoan Bruce Norris for his play, "Clybourne Park," which is a satire about real estate and race set on the city's North Side.
