Suit Targets Ex-School Treasurer Over Payouts
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Lyons Township School officials are suing the township's former treasurer, alleging he overpaid himself more than a half million dollars in taxpayer money.
According to the suit, there were numerous occasions over the past few years when Robert Healy moved the township funds into his bank accounts.
Healy resigned earlier this year shortly before officials hired a law firm to investigate a $100,000 payout Healy made to himself last year.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the suit is aimed at recovering the money paid out over 24 years in the form of hundreds of unused vacation, sick and personal days.
Reportedly, Healy told staffers not to keep track of his days.
Records indicate Healy used only 25 vacation days in 24 years and no sick or personal days.
