Suburban Woman Learns She's Expecting Triplets After Husband Killed In Crash
(CBS) -- Rarely have we heard of a story of love and loss so intertwined as one discovered in north suburban Green Oaks.
CBS 2's Brad Edwards tells that story in this Original Report.
Courtney Hill met her beau, Brian, by chance in the snowstorm of 2011 at Timothy O'Toole's in Gurnee. They'd marry and have a child.
Brian died in a trucking accident in Oklahoma six weeks ago.
"I haven't had a chance of downtime to sit alone and think what really is happening," she said.
He was a retired decorated Navy veteran who served in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait.
Courtney said they had been trying to have another baby just before he died. On the day of the wake, she took a pregnancy test. Courtney said she held his hand and told him she was pregnant at the wake.
Two weeks ago, Courtney was in the hospital.
"We were frightened that she was losing the baby," said her dad Oscar Blomgren. "She said, 'Dad I have news for you.'"
Courtney found out she was pregnant with triplets.
"I'm excited to have three more smiles that remind me of him," she said.
"Hard to be without him and it's hard when I see my daughter," Blomgren said. "I just feel sorry Brian won't be able to see 'em. I guess maybe he will see 'em"
A family friend set up a GoFundMe page to help out.
