FLOOSMOOR, Ill. (WBBM) -- Mary Wood was born in 1905, the same year as Babe Ruth and George Halas.

Wood is a little hard of hearing, but she is able to get around Sunrise Assisted Living in Flossmoor pretty well.

Her daughter, grandson, and great-granddaughter gathered at the assisted living facility to celebrate Woods' milestone birthday.

She attributes her longevity to good genes, plenty of physical activity, and some good luck.

"I don't know; I just lived a normal kind of life," Wood said, "and I have a loving family."

Wood grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and attended the Michael Reese School of Nursing in Chicago. She was married for 64 years before her husband passed away in 1993.

As for her bucket list, she doesn't really have one, but she says she would like to see better in her last years.
