Suburban State Senate Race Still Undecided
ELGIN, Ill. (CBS) - A state senate race in far northwest suburbs remains undecided.
The race is for the 22nd state Senate District that includes Elgin, Barrington Hills, Carpentersville, East Dundee, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, South Elgin and Streamwood.
As of the weekend, fewer than 500 votes separated former Republican State Sen. Steve Rauschenberger and incumbent Democrat Michael Noland.
On Sunday, Rauschenberger told the Daily Herald that the last of the provisional ballots are expected to be counted Monday.
Noland was elected to the seat four years ago after Rauschenberger made an unsuccessful bid for lieutenant governor instead of running for re-election. He lost the Republican primary for lieutenant governor to DuPage County State's Attorney Joseph Birkett.
Noland is a former assistant public defender, according to published reports.
