Suburban School Shelves Limits On Social Networking

MINOOKA, Ill. (WBBM) - The school board in a far southwest suburb has shelved plans to put limits on social networking.

School officials in Minooka were weighing a policy dealing not only with web sites such as Facebook and MySpace, but use of smart phones and tablet computers. The aim was to protect students and employees from inappropriate conduct.

So far, officials say, there have been no problems. The Daily Herald quotes Minooka School Superintendent Jim Colyott as saying there's a fear of adopting social networking policy because, in his words, 'We can't control social networking'.

Colyott says that could come down the road.
