Suburban Police Warn Residents On Car Burglaries
OSWEGO, Ill. (STMW) - Police in west suburban Oswego are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight after a series of car burglaries Tuesday and Wednesday.
Residents reported 16 incidents of motor vehicle burglary, criminal trespass involving a vehicle or residential burglary when door openers were stolen from cars to open garages, Oswego police said.
According to Detective Rob Sherwood, all vehicles entered were left unlocked by the owner. Items taken included cash, GPS units, cell phones, cameras, purses and wallets.
The crimes occurred in Mill Race Creek, The Ponds at Mill Race Creek and Victoria Meadows subdivisions, near Route 34 and Douglas Road, and Hometown subdivision near Route 31 and Washington Street.
