Suburban Man Killed in Little Village Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) - A south suburban man was shot and killed Saturday night in the Little Village neighborhood.
The man - identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Robert Vela - was shot in the chest about 7 p.m. in the 2600 block of West 24th Street, police said.
Vela, of the 14500 block of Avers Ave. in Midlothian, was pronounced dead at 7:21 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the medical examiner's office. An exact age was not immediately available, but police said he was between 34 and 36 years old.
An autopsy is scheduled for later Sunday, the medical examiner's office said.
Harrison Area detectives are investigating, but no one is in custody.
