Suburban Man Gets 24 Years For Sexually Assaulting Girl
WHEATON, Ill. (STMW) - A west suburban man was sentenced to 24 years in prison Wednesday for sexually assaulting a young girl in her home, where he had rented a room.
Gaspar Salvador, 54, of Addison pleaded guilty to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and was sentenced to 24 years by Judge Daniel Guerin, a release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's office said.
Between October 2010 and March 2011, Salvador sexually assaulted the young girl at her home, where he rented a room. The assaults took place while he was looking after the girl, the release said.
"Mr. Salvador sexually assaulted his young victim to satisfy his own sick desires," State's Atty. Robert Berlin said in the release. "He stole this young victim's innocence and for that he will pay a significant price."
The assaults were discovered when, after speaking with the victim, her parents grew suspicious and brought the girl to the hospital. An investigation led by Addison police and the DuPage County Children's Center ultimately resulted in his arrest.
Salvador must serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
