Strong Storms Rock Chicago Area Overnight
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Powerful storms caused flooding, and lightning strikes caused damage across Chicago, including a house fire in Robbins.
Flash flood watches and warnings remained in effect until Monday morning.
As CBS 2's Susanna Song reports, firefighters arrived on Lawndale street in Robbins after a heavy thunderstorm rocked the neighborhood. Crews were able to knock the fire down to an abandoned home.
Lightning also injured a 57-year-old woman in Oak Park on Sunday afternoon.
Oak Park fire officials say lightning hit a nearby tree and the woman somehow got hurt. She was taken to Loyola University Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
One lightning bolt took out two trees just 20 feet apart.
On Chicago's West Side, lightning hit a building, which sent bricks form the facade crumbling to the ground.
"I held my breath," said Audrey Rice, the building's owner. "I was waiting for the building to fall down.:
In Park Ridge, Roxanne Carrozza nearly got hit by a tree as she arrived at her dad's house for his 80th birthday party.
She had just parked her car in the driveway when lightning struck a tree nearby.
