Street Named For Chicago Civil Rights Leader
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago Civil Right Leader and historian now has a street named after him.
Some would call 94-year old Dr. Timuel Black a living legend. Now he has a street named in his honor.
State Street between 49th and 50th is named Dr. Timuel Black Street.
"It's thrilling, exhilarating," said Dr. Black.

Black, 94, is a historian, educator, civil rights leader and author.
He moved to Bronzeville in 1919 and was one of the first graduates of DuSable High School. Black is also the first recipient of the city of Chicago's Champion of Freedom award. he says he's just excited about being honored in his hometown.
"How could a boy who came in an early age through this building could ever dreamed that one day that outside this building there was going to be his name."
Black helped to elect Mayor Harold Washington and also helped to organize the historic march on Washington in 1963.
