Storms, Heat To Sweep In Over Next 2 Days
CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you've been enjoying the sunny skies and temperate late-summer weather lately, you might as well cherish the memory.
Multiple rounds of storms are set to push through the Chicago area Tuesday and Wednesday, as the temperature climbs to 90 degrees.
A round of severe storms swept over Iowa, and through Rockford and DeKalb early Tuesday morning, but the intensity was expected to diminish as the storms approached the Chicago area.
But in the afternoon, CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says there is a potential for severe weather. The National Weather Service says 0.1 to 0.25 inches of rain could fall, but those amounts could be higher if major thunderstorms sweep in.
Meanwhile, a southerly wind will bring hotter and stickier temperatures, with highs reaching 84 degrees. But by Wednesday, the temperature is expected to top out at 90 degrees.
Following another cold front Wednesday, even more showers and storms are expected.
But by Thursday, sunshine returns as the high drops to a comfortable 81.
