Storm chances in Chicago with heat and humidity on the way
CHICAGO (CBS) — Dangerous heat and humidity build into the area, with a risk of mainly nighttime severe storms.
A disturbance moving through our area Thursday leads to plenty of clouds, scattered showers, and thunderstorms. Mainly dry, warmer weather returns Friday, though a cooler breeze continues for one more day along the lake.
This weekend, a heat dome centered over the desert southwest builds northeastward into our area, bumping high temperatures up to the middle 90s Sunday.
An atmosphere charged with heat and humidity on the periphery of this heat dome will also support several rounds of strong to severe storms.
These currently appear most likely late Saturday night and late Sunday night, leaving plenty of dry time for daytime activities. Stay tuned to CBS News Chicago for forecast updates.
