Store Owner Shot During Holdup In Chatham
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A convenience store owner was in serious condition Thursday morning, after being shot during an attempted holdup in the Chatham neighborhood.
The man was in his store, N&A Food Mart and Dollar Plus in the 400 block of East 79th Street, when two masked men walked in and announced a robbery around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
One of the suspects then shot the owner in the groin. The robbers then ran out without taking anything, police said.
The store owner was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in serious condition, police said.
The robbers remained at large Wednesday morning.
The store did not have surveillance cameras.
