Store Owner Kidnapped In Pilsen, SUV Stolen
CHICAGO (CBS) -- An elderly shop owner was kidnapped and his SUV was stolen early Friday morning, as he was closing his store in Pilsen.
Police said the 78-year-old man was closing El Trebol Liquors at 1135 W. 18th St. when a group of men threw a pillowcase over his head, hit him in the face, and forced him into his own SUV.
The men then drove around, demanding money from the victim, before they finally released him at a gas station several miles away in the 4900 block of South Central Avenue in southwest suburban Stickney, according to police.
A Cook County Sheriff's deputy found the victim in Stickney, and took him back to the store. He was not seriously hurt, and refused medical treatment.
It was not immediately clear if the robbers stole any money from the victim, but they drove off in his vehicle, a 2004 GMC SUV with license plate #7320161.
