Store Manager Wrestles Down Alleged Armed Robber
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Walgreens store manager wrestled an attempted armed robber to the ground and held him until police arrived early Saturday, police sources said.
Benjamin Strong, 21, entered the Walgreens in the 2400 block of West North Avenue about 12:15 a.m., displaying a handgun and demanding money, police said.
A store manager got into a physical struggle with the man, wrestling him to the ground while another employee flagged down a police squad car outside, police said
The manager was taken to Norwegian-American Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released Saturday, police said.
Strong, of the 3700 block of North Narragansett Avenue, was charged with one felony count of attempted armed robbery with a firearm.
He was scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday.
