Stone: White Sox Still Control Own Destiny
(WSCR) At 60-60, the White Sox sit in a very unique position in a very weak division.
"There's a baseball saying that you are going to win 60 and you are going to lose 60 and what you do in the other 42 makes your season one way or the other," White Sox television analyst Steve Stone said on The Mully and Hanley Show Monday. "Well, they've won their 60 and they've lost their 60 and now they do have the 42 left."
The White Sox currently sit four-games back of the Detroit Tigers, but Stone sees a lot of good signs for a team that is 8-2 in its last 10 games.

"The thing that I like -- not necessarily that they've played the best baseball or that they've been the best fundamentally -- but the defense has gotten better," he said. "And also, the bullpen has really started to shine. Now, you take that into consideration, along with a division which isn't particularly good, and the one thing that the sox do have, that sometimes you run out of the ability to do, is hold the future of your own season in your hands. And the Sox still have the future of their season in their own hands."
Indeed, the White Sox still have six games remaining against Detroit and 11 games remaining against Cleveland -- which sits in between them and the Tigers -- including three against the Indians this week at U.S. Cellular Field.
"It is sitting there for them to go get it," Stone said. "It's just the question of putting together some very good baseball against some of the teams we have left and certainly the two teams we have in front of us -- Cleveland and Detroit."
