Stone: White Sox Need To Plan On Winning Without Dunn
(WSCR) As the White Sox look to gain ground on the Tigers, a lingering oblique strain may keep slugger Adam Dunn on the bench.
Dunn missed two games earlier this month with the injury, returned to the lineup for three games and hasn't played since. On Monday night, he missed his fourth straight game.
"In Adam's zeal to get back out on the field, he took an injury maybe not as serious as he should have taken it," Steve Stone told The Mully and Hanley Show. "Now, he's paying the price for it. I'd like to see him get back, but realistically, what our guys have to plan is to plan to win without him. If he does come back, well that's just going to be a bonus. I think he will get back, it's just a question of when, but it's going to be a while."

Dunn is batting .208 with 88 RBIs, 38 home runs and a league leading 96 walks.
"When it was announced initially that he had an oblique problem, two days later he was back in the lineup," Stone said. "Now, although he got three hits in eight at-bats (after) this oblique problem, one swing loses you for the rest of the year. It didn't surprise me when two days after he came back from an oblique problem, now he can't play. These are serious injuries that for a hitter, well, for anybody, a pitcher also, but especially for a hitter who is swinging the bat as hard as he can on a pitch-by-pitch basis, you swing one way a little differently than you normally do, and you hurt that area, you're done for a long time."
