Stone: White Sox May Be Stuck At Trade Deadline
CHICAGO (WSCR) The popular question regarding the White Sox right now is: Will they be buyers or sellers?
But, as White Sox television analyst Steve Stone explains, even if they White Sox want to be buyers, they probably can't be.
"The Sox, at this point, at $128 million are probably not going to take on a guy that they owe five or six million to this year," Stone said on The Mully and Hanley Show Monday. "Especially if they have to eat some of that money. And the motivation for some of these have-not teams is to trade guys that can either get one top of the line prospect, either pitching or hitting, or two, dump some salary. So with the White Sox, when you take a look at what they have in their system, they have a couple of guys that can play, but you certainly aren't going to trade (Dayan) Viciedo. And as far as taking on the money that some of the other teams can, they're not going to be able to do it."

The White Sox started the season with the highest payroll in franchise history and they are already struggling to cover those costs because attendance has been down with the team underperforming.
"You really are not going to take on a great deal of money," Stone said.
