Stone: Quintana Must Stay With Sox When Danks Returns
(WSCR) It's only a matter of time now until John Danks returns from his stint on the disabled list.
At which time, Robin Ventura and the White Sox will need to select a pitcher to return to Triple-A Charlotte. Jose Quintana, who was called when Danks got injured, would appear to be the likely choice to return to the minors, though his impressive stats will make for a tough decision.
In seven games (five starts) this season, Quintana is 2-1 with a 1.53 ERA.
"I think the easy thing and probably the correct and probably the thing that makes the most sense is that Quintana doesn't leave the ball club," White Sox television color man Steve Stone said. "He's not the change that you make. He's throwing too well. When a guy comes up and throws well, you have a tendency to ride the hot hand. You move one of your struggling right-handers to the bullpen. Maybe a lot has to do with Zach Stewart's start this evening to see exactly how he does. That might make your decision a little easier or it might make the decision tougher if he has a good ball game."

Stone said the general consensus is that Danks will throw one more rehab start before returning to the White Sox.
"Danks is going to have an MRI taken - they're going to take a look and see exactly what's wrong," he said. "The first reaction to his first examination was no structural damage and everything was fine. I think to ease his mind, they'll take a look at it again (Monday) as thoroughly as they can possibly look at it. ... Then, we'll see what happens with him. Assuming it comes back the way everyone thinks it will come back and the MRI is as pristine as a pitcher his age can get it, then he'll make one more start, see how he comes out of it and then look to bring him back in the rotation."
