Stone: No Individual To Blame For White Sox's Struggles
CHICAGO (WSCR) Through their first 32 games of the season, the Chicago White Sox have the worst record in all of baseball. This clearly wasn't the season that fans had expected, and becuase of that, they're now looking for somewhere to place the blame.
"I think it's really easy to say 'let's blame an individual' when you have a complete team collapse in a lot of different areas," Steve Stone said on the Boers and Bernstein Show. "I don't think you can blame one individual. I think there's a lot of blame to go around, but ultimately it comes back to the fact that the ball club, the players, are not doing it, and it really sits on them."

The White Sox declared themselves "All In" after an offseason that saw them signing slugger Adam Dunn to a big contract, as well as re-signing South Side mainstays Paul Konerko and A.J. Pierzynski.
"I'm not saying this team doesn't have any horses," Stone said. "The horses aren't playing...This is going to be a decent defensive team, it's not going to be a great one. You're going to have to score five, six, at times, seven runs a game to come out on top.
"Now the pitching, by and large, has been pretty good. I think we've actually come a couple of good strides in straightening out that bullpen. Jesse Crain has been terrific. Sergio Santos has been terrific. I think the last time out [Matt] Thornton actually threw the ball the way that Thornton can throw it. They'd like to get Sale a little bit better, and he says he picked up a mechanical flaw in his delivery, so things will go well with him.
"So I think the bullpen has taken that step. The starting rotation, by and large, has been fairly consistent, but you're just not going to win when you don't score any runs, and that's really been the story of this one."
