Stone: 'I Think Alomar Is the Guy'
(WSCR) After the release of manager Ozzie Guillen on Monday, White Sox broadcaster Steve Stone had some thoughts on who Guillen's replacement should be.
"I think Sandy Alomar (Jr.) is going to be the guy," Stone told The Mully and Hanley Show on Tuesday.
Alomar, a former catcher and six-time All-Star, is the current first-base coach for the Cleveland Indians. Stone, however, admitted this was only a feeling he had. He said other candidates could include Dave Martinez of the Rays and Buddy Bell, who is the director of operations with the White Sox.

"I've got no inside information, haven't talked to anyone else," Stone said. "Sandy, they say, is as respected as anyone in that Cleveland clubhouse, including (manager) Manny Acta.
"I think it's going to be a pretty quick situation where (general manager Ken Williams) will talk to some people and then he'll make a decision. I don't think it's going to linger."
With Guillen out as manager, Stone believes both sides made the right decision.
"This could be the one shot for Ozzie at getting a situation for himself long-term that gives him a great deal for security, but also gives him that challenge of going to another league with a brand new ballpark in an organization he's familiar with," Stone said.
