Stolen Truck Found In Suburban Lake
GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (STMW) - Police are questioning at least two people after a stolen truck and trailer plunged into a lake in the west suburbs. No one was found inside the vehicle.
At 4 a.m. police discovered a truck and trailer had been driven into the north end of Lake Ellyn near Oak Street and Riford Road, according to a release from police.
An officer went into the water to try to find out if anyone was inside, but no one was found, the release said.
Personnel from the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company deployed a dive team to confirm no one was in the water and heavy equipment crews were called in to remove the truck and trailer, the release said.
Officers later found the vehicle had been reported stolen from an unincorporated area of Glen Ellyn earlier in the night. The DuPage County Sheriff's Dept. took the report.
Police are questioning people who were found in the unincorporated area, but no charges have been filed for the stolen truck as of Saturday morning.
