Sting's Musical To Preview In Chicago Next Year
(CBS) -- Rock superstar Sting has written a musical based on his life that he'll debut in Chicago next summer before it heads to Broadway.
CBS 2's Vince Gerasole was there when the former Police frontman gave a select few a preview of "The Last Ship."
Creating the music for "The Last Ship" was a journey into uncharted waters, the rocker says. The music takes root in Sting's own past, telling the tale of an English shipbuilding town where a father passes a job to his son that the boy doesn't want.
Just as Illinois tax incentives encouraged Cyndi Lauper to polish her show "Kinky Boots" in Chicago before heading to Broadway, try-outs here next June will help Sting work smooth out the rough edges before "The Last Ship" sets sail for New York.
