Still No Spot For Viciedo On White Sox Roster
(WSCR) As the White Sox continue to float around .500, the fans begin to clamor for some sort of change that might spark the team and salvage a season that started with big expectations.
One of those proposed changes would comes in the form of prospect Dayan Viciedo.
"You can't really hang it on him quite yet, that he's the savior," Scott Merkin, of MLB.com, said on the Mully and Hanley Show.
While Merkin doesn't think it's fair to label Viciedo as the savior yet, he could have a positive impact on the White Sox, much like another player in the AL Central did when he made his MLB debut.

"He could come up and spark the White Sox like Miguel Cabrera did in 2003," Merkin said, "when he came up for the Marlins."
Viciedo is having a great year in Triple-A Charlotte. He's batting .324 with 16 home runs and 62 RBI. And the consensus among scouts and members of the White Sox front office is that the ball jumps off his bat like no one else in the organization, but right now there isn't a roster spot available.
There have been some trade rumors floating around about Carlos Quentin, and fans would like to see Alex Rios and his big contract get moved, but the team likely won't make a trade without considering the big picture.
"I think Viciedo gets a look," Merkin said. "But they have to figure out how to get him here, you know, that makes sense for the whole team, that helps the whole team."
