Statues For Blackhawks Hall Of Famers Hull And Mikita Announced
Sunday evening, the Blackhawks announced plans to unveil statues for Ambassadors and Hockey Hall-of-Famers Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita. Rotblatt/Amrany Fine Art Studio will sculpt the life-sized bronze statues and they will be located outside of the United Center.
The statues will be unvailed early during the 2011-12 Blackhawks season, but the location and description details will be released at another time.
"Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita are two of the pillars of our franchise," Blackhawks Team President John McDonough said. "Today is a step forward as we recognize their immense contributions to the Blackhawks. These statues will be prominently showcased for all of our fans to see."
Mikita is Chicago's all-time career leader in assists, points and games played and helped the team capture the Stanley Cup in 1961. He earned four Art Ross Trophies and two Hart and Lady Byng Trophy and had his jersey number 21 retired on October 21, 1980, the first in franchise history. Hull spent 15 years in a Blackhawks uniform and ranks first in franchise history in goals and second in games played and points. He helped Chicago win the 1961 Stanley Cup and also collected two Hart Trophies one Lady Byng Trophy. They were named Blackhawks Ambassadors together at a pre-game ceremony at the United Center on March 7, 2008.
