State Senator: Send Some Air Traffic To Rockford
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CBS) -- A state lawmaker from Rockford wants to accommodate overflow air traffic from O'Hare to an airport in his region, to try keeping money in Illinois.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Alex Degman reports, state Sen. Dave Syverson (R-Rockford) says expansions at O'Hare International Airport are imminent, and he wants state and federal officials to consider using Chicago-Rockford International Airport to handle some of the disrupted traffic.

Geographically, he says it makes sense.
"Many of the passengers are coming from McHenry County, DeKalb County, Boone County, Winnebago County, and for them, it is much easier and quicker just to come over to Rockford," he said.
Syverson favors expansions and renovations at both O'Hare and Rockford, instead of building a brand new airport in Peotone.
He says investing in Rockford would prevent funds from going out of state to Gary or Milwaukee.
