State Rep: Illinois Transparency Portal Is Missing Information
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CBS) -- The Illinois Transparency and Accountability Portal – a Web site about state finances – is not as transparent as some people would like.
As WBBM Newsradio's Dave Dahl reports, among the information missing is historical information about state workers' salaries.

State Rep. Mike Tryon (R-Crystal Lake) sponsored the legislation that created the transparency portal, and he wants the information to be included.
"I'm hoping that this is something that we can get worked out just by being able to make that change through programming, and utilizing the IT infrastructure that we have now," Tryon said. "Otherwise, I'm looking at probably working on a piece of legislation to make sure that our transparency portal has that information available historically."
The state's Central Management Services, which runs the Web site, says the law only calls for the current and year-to-date information.
"The ITAP, when it was first created, did post current and year-to-date employee salary information, and so what you see when you visit the Web site is current and year-to-date, so right now that goes back to calendar year 2010," said Central Management Services spokeswoman Alka Nayyar.
Nayyar says if there is a change, her office will work with it.
