State Police Stepping Up DUI Patrols For Super Bowl Sunday

(CBS) -- State Police are out in force this Super Bowl Sunday, looking for people who have had too much to drink.

State Police will have extra eyes on the roads which is why they want you to take it easy or use a designated driver. Common sense suggestions, but Illinois State Police Master Sergeant Jason Bradley says it never hurts to deliver a reminder.

"Be responsible and it's always better to take that taxicab or take that ride with a sober driver, designated driver," Bradley says.

Last year, Illinois State Police issued nearly 2,000 tickets for DUI, speeding, distracted driving and seatbelt violations, and that factors in the blizzard that hit the Chicago area last year on Super Bowl Sunday.
