Man Killed In Rollover Crash On I-57
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A motorist died after he was ejected from a vehicle during a rollover collision on I-57 in south suburban Posen early Wednesday.
The crash occurred about 12:05 a.m. in the expressway's northbound lanes near 147th Street in Posen, leaving a 2005 Cadillac in the center median, according to Illinois State Police.
State police said the Cadillac and another car were travelling north when they collided. Both vehicles then also hit the left concrete median, at which point the Cadillac rolled over.
The Cadillac's driver and sole occupant, a 29-year-old man, was ejected during the crash and taken in serious condition to Metro South Medical Center in Blue Island, where he died a short time later, state police said. He was pronounced dead at 12:47 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. He remained unidentified later Wednesday morning.
Nobody in the second vehicle was hurt.
All northbound lanes were closed at the scene for at least an hour after the crash, with traffic diverted onto 147th Street, state police said.
