State Police: 1 Person Dead, 2 Hurt In Crash On I-355
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (STMW) -- A 17-year-old girl was killed in a three-vehicle crash Saturday morning on the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355) near west suburban Downers Grove, state police said.
Amber Elizabeth Adams, of the 3900 block of Lowe Street in north suburban Park City, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to an Illinois State Police District 15 master sergeant. She was was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Adams was in the passenger seat of a 2006 Mercury Montego when the crash ocurred at 11:32 a.m. on a ramp from the Veterans Memorial Tollway to the Reagan Tollway (I-88), the master sergeant said.
An 18-year-old man driving the 2006 Mercury cut in front of a van, lost control of the vehicle and struck a semi parked on the shoulder, the master sergeant said.
The driver's 52-year-old father was ejected from the back seat, according to the master sergeant. The 18-year-old man and his father were taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with non life-threatening injuries.
They were not related to the 17-year-old girl, the master sergeant said.
The DuPage County coroner's office could not be reached to confirm the death.
No charges were filed but the crash remained under investigation, according to the master sergeant. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
