State Paying Out Interest On Unpaid Bills
TEUTOPOLIS, Ill. (CBS) -- Human services agencies across the state, and scores of other vendors, are getting checks from state government.
But one agency says it would rather not have the money.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Melissa Hahn reports, state government has sent out $55 million in interest payments to providers and vendors.

ARC Community Support Systems in downstate Teutopolis received $10,000 of that interest in the last week.
Executive administrator Mike Poe said he is grateful, but, "It doesn't substitute for getting your payments on a regular basis. Given the situation, I would much rather have my payments in my hand 60 days after the service than to have 1 percent of the interest paid on it."
Poe said his agency cut programs and eliminated staff because of late state payments.
