Stargazers Spot Meteor Streaking Across Chicago Area Skies
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Several people in the Chicago area spotted a meteor streaking across the sky Wednesday night.
Eyewitness David Braun told WBBM Newsradio he was in west suburban Cary, near U.S. Route 14 and the Metra station when he spotted it.
"I was kind of looking up for Venus, because, I mean, Venus was up in the sky," he said. "I was at a stop light and, all of a sudden, I just saw this bright light, and it caught my attention immediately. I said 'Wow!'"

Other callers spotted the meteor from Elgin and Schaumburg. One person even called about the meteor from near Grand Rapids, Mich.
"It was moving at, I would say, towards the earth; and, from my perspective, 30 degrees to the right," Braun said. "And it was moving really fast. Like I say, I would say it seemed faster than a plane, and it was clearly on fire, and the fire got brighter."
The people who spotted the meteor said it flared for about 15 to 20 seconds, and then was gone.
