CHICAGO (CBS) -- An armed man who reportedly was threatening suicide and who barricaded himself in the bathroom of an apartment in the Rogers Park neighborhood for about nine and a half hours Thursday morning, is now in police custody.
The incident began about 12:50 a.m. Thursday in the 7700 block of North Sheridan Road, according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.
After an unspecified domestic incident, a man armed with a gun barricaded himself in a bathroom and was threatening suicide, Greer said.
"He appears to be alone in the apartment,'' Greer said early Thursday morning.
No injuries were reported.
SWAT members responded to the scene and traffic was diverted from the immediate area, Greer said. Police had closed Sheridan Road between Rogers Avenue and Juneway Terrace as they try to resolve the standoff.
The incident ended at approximately 11:20 a.m., when the man was placed in police custody, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said. O'Brien had no details on the arrest and did not immediately know if anyone was injured.
