Metra Trains Resume With Delays On Union Pacific West Line
ELMHURST, Ill. (STMW) -- Metra trains are running again on the Union Pacific West Line after a stalled freight train near Elmhurst cut off all rail travel Thursday morning.
Trains begin running again at 6:40 a.m. and commuters can expect delays ranging between 15 minutes and an hour, said Metra spokesman Tom Miller.
"(Trains) are running up to an hour late," Miller said. "Those (delays) will diminish as we go on."
The freighter, which had mechanical problems, blocked all three main tracks about 6:30 a.m., forcing all inbound and outbound trains to stop in the vicinity of Elmhurst, according to Metra.
