St. Bernard Hospital Workers Save Christmas For Struggling Families
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The generosity of some South Side hospital workers is making Christmas a little merrier and bright than it otherwise have been this year.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, Maria Rodriguez, 33, was talking about what Christmas would have been like for her and her four children, if not for the generosity of employees at St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center in the Englewood neighborhood.

"I don't think we were going to have one," Rodriguez said. "I lost my job, and a lot of things just came down on me, so things are in the rough this year."
At the very least, the 51 families helped by St. Bernard hospital workers received a turkey, boxes of food, and gifts for any children.
"We just had a family that was burned out, and a lady brought in eight coats for me – new coats," said hospital community relations director Barbara Young.
Young says 30 more families will be given toys for their children on Friday.
St. Bernard Hospital is located at 326 W. 64th St.
