Sporting News Names Chicago As 2010's Best Sports City
The Stanley Cup keeps giving to the City of Chicago. The annual Sporting News list of Best Sports Cities has Chicago in the top spot. The magazine based their rankings on the events from the summer of 2009 through the summer of 2010. The major contributors to Chicago's ranking were the resurgence of two storied franchises. Both the Blackhawks and Bulls made great strides over the previous year. While the Blackhawks won a championship, the Bulls made the playoffs and acquired the free agents needed to turn them into a title contender for years to come.
Jonathon Toews, Patrick Kane and Joakim Noah will appear together on the cover of the Sporting News issue that hits newsstands later this week.
The rest of the top ten is as follows: Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas, New York, Phoenix, Atlanta, Denver and Detroit.
