8 Hospitalized After Spill In LaGrange Business
UPDATED 03/14/11 9:23 a.m.
LAGRANGE, Ill. (CBS) -- Eight workers were hospitalized Monday morning for a chemical spill at a business in LaGrange.
Police and fire crews were sent to Grayhill Inc., 541 W. Hillgrove Ave. about 6:30 a.m. after some employees became exposed to acetone following a spill, LaGrange Fire Dept. Capt. Rick Griffin said. The factory makes keypads for electronic devices.
Hillgrove Avenue was blocked near Kensington Avenue as of just before 7 a.m., for a hazmat call at a business just west of Kensington, CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reported.
The business was cleared of nonessential personnel as fire crews ventilated the building.
The spill happened in the cafeteria, Habermehl reported.
Eight employees complained of suffering from nausea and dizziness and were taken to Advocate LaGrange Memorial Hospital, Griffin said. None of the injuries appeared to be serious.
